Resumé
The theme of my paper draws on the works of two of the oldest chroniclers in Cetral Europe; Gallus Anonymus from Poland and Kosmas from Bohemia. In view of the subject matter discussed at the conference in Ratiborz, it is writing techniques and interpretations of the same events. The conflict and linking of peoples seems to be chronicled in both accounts quite explicitly, whether it be a conflict of agression, such as war, or a link between the nations involving agreement, marriage or occupation. In the firtst part of this study emphasis is placed on the language used and the statistical analysis of their accounts and what seems to be specially important for each. The second part of my work analysis both chroniclers and focuses on Czech-Polish relationships.
As it turns out, both of these chroniclers centred on war conflicts, nevertheless they both concentrated more on incidental matters such as how the soldiers were dressed rather than the crucial aspects of how, when and why it occured. Even though they maintained a traditional plan to thein chroniclers following Herodotos´ schema their accounts contain emotion and are descriptive, therefore they have an enjoyable effect on readers.
